Who is responsible for your personal information?

Fred Eimhjellen is the data controller for personal information processed through Visible Margin unless another service clearly acts as an independent controller for its own service.

What information may be collected?

Email subscriptions and forms

If you subscribe to an email series, newsletter or other resource, we process the information you submit through the form. This will normally include your email address and may include your name if a form asks for it.

Messages you send to us

If you contact Visible Margin by email or another direct communication channel, we may process your email address, name, the contents of your message and any other information you choose to provide.

Website and technical information

When you visit the website, technical systems involved in delivering and securing the site may process information such as IP address, browser or device information, request times, pages requested and security-related log information.

Analytics and similar technologies

Selected parts of the website may use analytics, email-platform measurement or similar technologies to understand whether pages, forms and campaigns are working. Where Norwegian or European law requires consent for cookies or similar tracking technologies, such processing requires valid consent.

Why do we process personal information?

Email services and GetResponse

Visible Margin uses GetResponse for email-list management, signup forms, automated emails and related email functionality. When you subscribe through a Visible Margin form, information submitted through the form may therefore be processed using GetResponse.

For personal information processed through our GetResponse account on our instructions, Visible Margin determines the purpose of the processing and GetResponse acts as a service provider or data processor as applicable.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe option included in the email.

Other service providers

Running a website requires technical service providers. Personal information may be processed by providers that supply services such as website hosting, infrastructure, email delivery, security, analytics or other functionality necessary to operate Visible Margin.

Where a provider processes personal information on our behalf, we remain responsible for choosing appropriate providers and using appropriate contractual and security arrangements where required.

Affiliate links and external websites

Visible Margin contains affiliate links. If you follow one of these links, the destination website may process information about your visit according to its own privacy and cookie practices.

Some affiliate systems may record that a visitor was referred from Visible Margin and may later report referral or conversion activity to us. The external service is responsible for its own processing where it acts as an independent data controller.

A link from Visible Margin to another website does not make Visible Margin responsible for that website’s privacy practices. We recommend reviewing the privacy information provided by the destination service.

Cookies and tracking technologies

Cookies and similar technologies may be used for essential website functionality, security, preferences, analytics or campaign measurement.

Technologies that are strictly necessary for providing a requested service may be treated differently from analytics, advertising or other non-essential tracking.

Where consent is required by applicable law, non-essential cookies or similar tracking technologies should not be used until valid consent has been provided. Consent can also be withdrawn.

International processing

Some technology providers or their subprocessors may process information outside Norway or the European Economic Area.

Where personal information subject to the GDPR is transferred outside the EEA, the transfer must rely on an applicable legal mechanism, such as an adequacy decision, appropriate safeguards or Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

How long do we keep information?

Personal information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, unless a longer period is required or justified by law.

Email subscriber information may be kept while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, information may be retained where necessary to document or respect your opt-out and prevent unwanted future marketing.

Direct correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the enquiry, maintain relevant records or protect legal rights.

Technical and security logs may be retained for periods determined by operational, security and legal requirements.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to:

• ask whether we process personal information about you;
• request access to your personal information;
• request correction of inaccurate information;
• request deletion of information in applicable circumstances;
• request restriction of processing;
• object to certain processing based on legitimate interests;
• request data portability where the legal requirements apply;
• withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before the consent was withdrawn.

Complaints

If you believe your personal information has been processed in breach of applicable data-protection law, you may contact us first so we can review the issue.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) or another competent supervisory authority where applicable.

Information security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, loss, misuse or disclosure.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security, but we aim to limit the information collected and use reputable service providers appropriate to the processing involved.

Children

Visible Margin is not specifically directed at children. We do not intentionally seek to collect personal information from children in circumstances where parental or other legally required consent would be necessary.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information improperly, contact us so the situation can be reviewed.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated when Visible Margin changes its services, technology providers, tracking practices or legal obligations.
